2026–27 Ohio boys basketball outlook • MAC • Research checked October 21, 2026.

The verified starting point

2025–26 regular-season record: 7–15 overall, 1–8 MAC.

Parkway announced Will Garlock as varsity boys basketball head coach.

The league's final report notes Parkway statistics cover 21 games.

The coaching change gives the season a clear new direction

Parkway announced Will Garlock as its varsity boys basketball head coach in the spring. The hiring report states that the board approved him in May, and Defiance College's athletics biography documents his previous coaching work there.

That is a significant change for a program coming off one conference victory. It creates concrete questions about development and responsibilities, but it does not justify inventing a new system before the Panthers have played.

The statistical sample needs careful labeling

Parkway's regular-season record was 7–15, while the MAC statistical report explicitly notes that its individual and team statistics cover 21 games. In that sample, the Panthers averaged 46.71 points and allowed 55.00.

The same report shows useful shooting details: 145 made threes, 34.44% three-point accuracy and 73.24% at the line. Eli Schumm made 40 threes at 44.44%, while Bosten Korte made 38 at 43.18%. Those figures establish previous production without proving either player's current status.

The new staff must connect scoring to a fuller game

Ethan Pond earned second-team All-MAC recognition, with Jacoby Triplett an honorable mention. The awards identify players recognized for last season's work; the new roster and games will establish who occupies the main roles under Garlock.

Parkway beat New Knoxville 58–41 in its league victory, but other results included a 45–22 loss to New Bremen and a 95–53 loss to St. John's. Those games show why shooting figures alone cannot describe the rebuilding assignment.

Watch the quality of possessions when the outside shot does not fall, and whether defensive stops become secured rebounds. The first meaningful sign of progress will be a more consistent team response across different kinds of opponents.
