2026–27 Ohio boys basketball outlook • MAC • Research checked October 21, 2026.

The verified starting point

2025–26 regular season: 22–0 overall, 9–0 MAC.

Regular-season shooting: 55.08% from the field, 45.11% from three and 82.59% at the line.

St. John's won the 2026 Division VII state championship.

The standard was exceptional in several ways

Delphos St. John's finished its regular season unbeaten, then completed a state-title run with a 56–47 win over Kalida. The league's final regular-season statistical report shows why the performance was more than a winning streak: the Blue Jays averaged 75.27 points and allowed 50.27, a 25-point margin.

Their shooting figures were equally distinctive. St. John's made 263 three-pointers and shot 45.11% from beyond the arc in the report. Those are historical team numbers, not targets that a different lineup can be expected to reproduce automatically.

The Elwer distinction changes the new outlook

Cameron Elwer was the MAC player of the year, while Aaron Elwer earned coach-of-the-year recognition. The final regular-season report credits Cameron with 29.36 points per game and 107 made threes. The official All-Ohio release lists him as a senior.

Andrew Elwer was listed as a junior in the state release. The MAC report credits him with 15.60 points per game across 20 games and 48 made threes at 56.47%. That is significant younger-class production, but Cameron's scoring and responsibilities cannot simply be transferred to another player's projection.

The league will test the next distribution of work

Easton Elwer and Tyce McClain earned second-team All-MAC recognition, with Brayden Klaus an honorable mention. Those awards show that last season's success had contributions beyond the leading scorer, while the current roster must determine the next rotation.

St. John's beat Marion Local 66–36 in their league meeting, establishing a striking gap between the top two finishers on that night. This winter's intrigue is how the Blue Jays recreate productive possessions with a changed personnel picture. Watch shot creation, the quality of the extra pass and whether the new group can sustain efficient scoring without forcing the old numbers.
