Final Four Basketball Championship: Marysville Bunsold Wins OT Thriller vs. Dublin Karrer to Advance to the D1 Central Ohio Basketball Championship

Thursday, February 7th 2025 The Marysville Bunsold 8th Grade Boys Basketball Team (Class of 2029) punched their ticket to the Division I Central Ohio Championship after a heart-stopping 46-41 overtime victory over Dublin Karrer on Tuesday night. In one of the most intense and emotional games of the season, the Monarchs showed incredible toughness, poise, and teamwork when it mattered most.
From the opening tip, both teams battled back and forth in a defensive slugfest, but when the game went into overtime, the Monarchs’ composure and championship mentality took over.
Kellen Carter quietly led the way with 21 points, including several clutch baskets down the stretch that helped seal the win. Even when he wasn’t scoring, his leadership, calmness, and ability to execute under pressure set the tone for the entire team.

Myles Forrester, the team’s fearless leader, was locked in all night. He scored 14 points, dished out assists, and made hustle plays on both ends of the floor. His relentless energy and vocal leadership kept the Monarchs focused through every tense moment.
On the sideline, Hudson King played an invaluable role as the team’s motivator and glue guy — keeping his teammates together, positive, and locked in. Championship runs are built on chemistry and leadership, and Hudson’s presence exemplified both.

Defensively, AJ Shroyer put on a masterclass. Tasked with guarding one of Dublin Karrer’s top scorers, he locked in for four full quarters and forced the opposing star to foul out — a huge momentum shift in the game. Sully Stackhouse was once again a spark plug, scoring 7 crucial points, including multiple clutch shots that kept Marysville within striking distance late in regulation.
Javy Lopez delivered an outstanding defensive performance, collecting 8 steals and scoring 4 points, proving once again that effort and hustle can completely change a game. His defensive instincts and quickness disrupted Dublin Karrer’s rhythm all night.

Meanwhile, David Lian, Cole “Money” Schott, Mason Potts, and Adam Idrissi played their roles perfectly — bringing energy, communication, and unselfishness to every possession. Their support and teamwork from the bench were just as important as the points on the scoreboard.
With this win, Marysville advances to the Division I Central Ohio Championship Game, where they’ll face Upper Arlington Jones on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at Hilliard Weaver Middle School.
This thrilling overtime victory was more than just another win — it was a statement. The Monarchs proved they can battle through adversity, stay composed under pressure, and rise to the occasion when everything is on the line.
