2026–27 Ohio boys basketball outlook • MAC • Research checked October 21, 2026.

The verified starting point

2025–26 MAC record: 3–6.

The regular-season statistical report covers 21 games: 9–12.

Landon Knapke earned first-team All-MAC recognition and was listed as a senior by OHSAA.

The record shows the starting point and the opportunity

Coldwater finished with three conference wins, below the MAC's three-team group at 4–5. Its final regular-season statistical report shows a narrow negative average scoring margin: 48.76 points scored and 50.29 allowed across 21 games.

That is useful context for the new season. The Cavaliers were not defined only by lopsided results; some of the most informative league games were competitive. They beat Versailles 57–50 and lost to New Bremen 40–38.

The recognized scoring role needs a new answer

Landon Knapke averaged 12.86 points per game in the regular-season report and earned first-team All-MAC recognition. The official All-Ohio release lists him as a senior. His previous production should therefore be treated as part of the responsibilities the next team must replace.

Caleb Schroer received league honorable mention and recorded 68 assists in the statistical report. The same report lists Jack Bruns with 55 blocks and Nolan Gruss with 31 blocks and 163 rebounds. Those totals establish meaningful interior contributions, but the report alone does not confirm who returns.

The efficiency figures frame the next test

Coldwater shot 37.42% from the field and 29.02% from three in the regular-season sample, while collecting 30.19 rebounds per game. The combination suggests a useful set of viewing questions: can the new team get cleaner attempts, and can it turn its work around the basket into possession?

Watch the spacing when an opponent closes the lane and the decisions after an offensive rebound. A second chance is valuable only if it becomes a useful opportunity rather than another hurried attempt.

The Cavaliers' next step will be demonstrated by how well the current group fills scoring and organizing roles, then carries that progress into the close league matchups.
