Versailles 2026–27 Basketball: A Coaching Transition and a New Offensive Balance

2026–27 Ohio boys basketball outlook • MAC • Research checked October 21, 2026.

The verified starting point

2025–26 MAC record: 6–3.

The final regular-season statistical report covers 21 games: 15–6.

Drake Ahrens averaged 15.81 points and recorded 156 assists in that report.

The offseason adds a genuine new storyline

Versailles athletics announced Nathan Feitshans as its next boys basketball coach in April, subject to board approval in that announcement. That dated wording matters: it is evidence of the selection announcement, rather than a substitute for a later approval record.

The basketball foundation is substantial. Versailles won six MAC games and posted a 12.48-point average margin in the league's final regular-season statistical report. That report covers 21 games, so its 15–6 overall figure should not be presented as the final tournament-inclusive record.

Ahrens' previous role was larger than his scoring

Drake Ahrens earned first-team All-MAC recognition, and the official All-Ohio release lists him as a senior. His 15.81-point average was accompanied by 156 assists in the regular-season report. Replacing that contribution involves organizing possessions as well as finding points.

Maddox Stonebraker and Blake Monnin earned second-team league honors, while Kade Schwartz received honorable mention. Those names establish recognized support in the previous team, without proving who will take on the departed decision-making work.

The shooting profile offers a useful reference

Versailles shot 49.64% from the field and 39.52% from three in the regular-season report. Those are strong historical efficiency figures. The next group's challenge is creating comparable shot quality with its own personnel and coaching direction, rather than chasing percentages in isolation.

The conference results also establish the gap to the top. Versailles lost 71–34 to St. John's and 60–40 to Marion Local, while beating Fort Recovery 56–52 and St. Henry 59–54.

Watch whether the offense produces a clear second option after its first action is denied. A new distribution of ballhandling and playmaking will be central to judging how quickly the Tigers establish their next identity.
