Berlin's first district championship had a team lesson built into it: the most visible scorer was not the only player capable of changing an elimination game.

OCC Division I • 2026–27 season outlook • Research checked October 21, 2026.

The district final expanded the story

Berlin beat Westland 60–51 in the 2026 district final. The contemporary game report credits sophomore Luca Filia with 29 points, four assists and four steals. That specific performance gives the next season a richer starting point than simply identifying the Bears' leading season scorer.

Berlin's run ended with a 55–35 regional loss to Lakota West. Both results belong in the outlook: a historic district breakthrough and a subsequent test that the Bears did not solve.

The recognition shows several younger contributors

Noah Bruns and Filia earned first-team All-OCC Cardinal honors. The official workbook lists Bruns as a junior and Filia as a sophomore. Teddy Porter, another sophomore, received special mention, while junior Braylon Green earned honorable mention.

Colton Less was a senior second-team selection. The class distinction matters when assessing possible continuity. The awards identify a younger recognized group, but they also identify experienced production that should not be carried into a new lineup automatically.

Bruns' scoring needs its proper source

The official All-Ohio release credits Bruns with 21.2 points per game and Division I honorable mention. That figure differs from the 20.4 in earlier Wolfe Sports team research. This article uses the state awards figure as labeled, without blending it with another reporting sample.

The team question is how the Bears create opportunities around that scoring. Filia's district-final game shows why opponents cannot be discussed only in relation to Bruns. A second recognized creator can change the attention available to everyone else.

Watch the quality of Berlin's possessions after the first action is covered, and how well its defense finishes with possession. A district title gives the program a real achievement to build from. The new season's challenge is making the next group more complete across the different kinds of opponents the OCC and tournament present.
