Olentangy Basketball 2026–27: More Than One Name in the Braves' Next Chapter
Updated: 15 hours ago
Ty Walburn's recognition leads the discussion, but the conference's official awards reveal a broader group behind Olentangy's recent success.

The individual honors sit inside a team story
Ty Walburn was the OCC Cardinal player of the year, and John Feasel earned the division's coaching award. The official state release also named Feasel Division I coach of the year and placed Walburn on the second All-Ohio team.
That combination establishes a substantial previous-season standard. It also warns against reducing the Braves' success to one scorer. Coaching recognition and a broad league awards list point toward a team whose next version should be assessed through its connections across the floor.
The class labels distinguish continuity from replacement
The OCC workbook lists Walburn as a junior. Robert Page and Trey Kloock were sophomore second-team selections, while junior Mike Alexander received special mention. Those are meaningful younger-class credentials to follow through current roster confirmation.
Quentin Page was a senior first-team selection and scholar-athlete honoree. Jackson Mangham, also listed as a senior, received honorable mention. Their class labels identify experience the new group should not be assumed to retain.

March provides two different measuring points
Olentangy beat Orange 50–47 in overtime in a district final, then lost 50–48 to Hilliard Bradley in a regional semifinal. The first result was an extended elimination-game victory; the second left the Braves two points short against the eventual state runner-up.
For the next team, the interesting question is how often several players can make a useful decision in the same possession. If attention closes one route, can the next action create a clean opportunity rather than forcing the original option?
The narrow regional result should not become a promise that the next team is automatically one step from state. It supplies a benchmark for the level Olentangy reached. The next group has recognized experience to draw from and senior responsibilities to replace, making its development one of the OCC's more substantial team stories.
