Division 1: Ohio High School Basketball Programs with a lot to be excited about
The Ohio High School Basketball season kicked off with a competitive non-conference contest between the Marysville Monarchs and the Gahanna Lincoln Lions. Marysville demonstrated determined effort, ultimately falling by a narrow margin of 60–55 to the Lions. This highly anticipated OCC matchup showcased significant talent and disciplined play on both sides.
The Monarchs showcased the qualities that position them as one of Central Ohio's most compelling teams this season. Their performance was anchored by senior leader Cole Brewer (Class of 2026), who is currently ranked 89th overall player and 20th SG in the state of Ohio. They also featured rising freshman standout Kellen Carter (Class of 2029), a young prospect already recognized among the top regional talents.
Gahanna Lincoln, a consistent OCC powerhouse, successfully defended their home court with disciplined play and timely shot-making, proving once again why they are considered one of the toughest, high-caliber opponents to face early in the season.

OCC Conference Battles are here already
Both teams will now shift focus to OCC play, where the stakes rise and every matchup matters.

Marysville heads into a familiar showdown with Dublin Jerome on Friday 12/5 at 7:30 PM. Expect a physical, defensive, and fast-paced game — exactly what OCC basketball is known for.

Bright Futures for Both Programs
Despite Monday’s narrow loss, Marysville showed the pieces are in place for a strong season a team with great senior leadership and coaching that is going to compete until the very end of every game. Lincoln proved they remain a tough programs in Central Ohio, and their depth will make them a factor all year long.
