Marysville’s boys and girls golf teams finished their 2026 OHSAA tournament runs at the sectional level. Both placed sixth in their respective fields, with individual rounds that deserve recognition alongside the team results.

Heizer leads the boys at Darby Creek

At the September 29 Division I sectional at Darby Creek, Marysville totaled 319. Senior Andrew Heizer led the Monarchs with 77. Freshman Keegan Crossfield followed at 79, junior Caleb Rupcich shot 80, senior Jeremy Dantzer finished at 83 and junior Noah Koski posted 87.

The four counting rounds were separated by six strokes. Marysville finished ten shots behind fourth-place Jonathan Alder, which claimed the last team advancement position with 309. The official individual results did not list a Monarch among the advancing players.

Samaniego paces the girls at Oakhaven

The girls competed September 30 at Oakhaven and finished with 388. Junior McKinley Samaniego led with 91, improving from 47 on the front nine to 44 on the back. Sophomore Savannah Huntington and senior Addy Ross each shot 98, senior Kaitlyn Stover added 101 and freshman Kennedy Silcott finished with 113.

Marysville finished behind the four advancing teams: Olentangy, Olentangy Berlin, Dublin Coffman and Granville. Its golfers also did not take one of the separate individual advancement spots.

What the results leave for next season

A sectional finish is one part of a season, and it should not erase the time players invested in practices and matches. Heizer, Dantzer, Stover and Ross contributed as seniors. Their rounds belong in the record of this team’s season.

Crossfield’s 79 as a freshman is an encouraging result to build from. Koski and Rupcich also gained another tournament round, while Samaniego, Huntington and Silcott give the girls younger players with postseason experience.
