Both Fairbanks golf teams earned a place in the 2026 Division II district tournaments, giving the Panthers another round of postseason competition after sectionals. Their runs ended at districts, with Samuel Snyder leading the boys and Savannah Blust setting the pace for the girls.

Snyder leads the boys at Turnberry

Fairbanks finished sixth with 356 at the October 1 district tournament at Turnberry. Junior Samuel Snyder shot matching 42s for 84. Senior Luke Poling added 87, senior Colin Buchholz shot 92, junior Liam Rhea finished with 93 and senior Kaleb Cox posted 106.

Buckeye Valley won the team berth with 314. River Valley’s Asher Gates earned the separate individual spot with 73. Fairbanks did not advance to state, but reaching the district field gave its lineup a chance to compete for that opportunity.

Blust sets the girls’ pace

The girls placed fourth with 389 at the September 28 district tournament at The Links at Echo Springs. Sophomore Savannah Blust led with 82. Sophomore Adelyn Wisecup added 98, senior Claire Meihls shot 101, junior Nyla Greenbaum finished at 108 and junior Lilli Kelley completed the lineup with 124.

Columbus Academy won the team competition with 297. Fairbanks’ girls did not earn a state team or individual berth.

Recognizing the players behind the finish

Golf’s team score is built one player and one hole at a time. District qualification means the Panthers first did enough at sectionals to keep their seasons going. That accomplishment deserves its own place in the recap, even though the next step proved difficult.

Poling, Buchholz, Cox and Meihls competed as seniors. Snyder and Rhea are listed as juniors, while the girls’ lineup also included four underclassmen. Blust’s district-leading round for Fairbanks gives her a useful benchmark, and the returning players have first-hand experience of what a district tournament demands. Those results provide a starting point for next season’s development.
