Marysville-Bunsold Boys Basketball Opens Season with Dominant Win
The Marysville-Bunsold Class of 2030 Boys Basketball team tipped off the 2025 season in style, showcasing a balanced attack, unselfish play, and championship-level poise in a commanding 91-72 victory over Springfield Shaeffer. The Monarchs looked sharp from start to finish, setting the tone early with defensive pressure and efficient offense — a continuation of the identity that made them one of Central Ohio’s toughest teams last season.
The Class of 2030 roster is loaded with skill, size, and chemistry, featuring Tayte Keller, Vinnie Z, Freddie Paul, Erion Nelson, Zane Mosier, Owen Jergens, Luke Hensel, Cole Fuchs, Niko Huddleston, Tyler Ketchum, and Titus Meginness. Each player contributes something unique to the team’s success — from Keller’s scoring ability and leadership to the relentless hustle and defense shown by the supporting cast.

Coming off a remarkable 19-1 campaign in 2024, where their only loss came in the Final Four, the Monarchs have unfinished business. Their focus this year is clear: play together, improve daily, and bring a championship back to Marysville. That “TOGETHER” mindset was on full display in the opener, as the team moved the ball crisply, communicated on defense, and showed maturity beyond their years.
The Monarchs’ offensive depth stood out, with multiple players scoring in double figures. Whether it was Keller’s ability to create his own shot, Mosier’s rebounding and finishing inside, or Vinnie Z’s confident outside shooting, this team proved that any player on the court can step up when needed. Defensively, Bunsold’s full-court effort and transition play created energy that fueled their offense and wore down Springfield Shaeffer over four quarters.
Scoring Leaders:
Tayte Keller – 28 points
Vinnie Z – 18 points
Erion Nelson – 12 points
Zane Mosier – 12 points
Freddie Paul – 9 points
Luke Hensel – 9 points

After such a dominant start, the Marysville-Bunsold Monarchs (Class of 2030) appear ready to make another deep run this season. Their blend of talent, toughness, and team-first mentality makes them one of the most exciting groups to watch in the region.
Next up, the Monarchs will host Olentangy Berkshire this Thursday, with the Class of 2031 tipping off at 5:30 PM and the Class of 2030 following at 6:30 PM. Fans are encouraged to come out and pack the gym — your energy fuels these young athletes as they continue their pursuit of greatness and another standout season for Marysville basketball.
