Marysville PREP: Boys Basketball (Class of 2027) Hands UA Jones Its First Loss

The BMS 8th Grade boys basketball team (Class of 2027) delivered one of its most impressive wins of the season on Wednesday night, knocking off previously undefeated UA Jones by a score of 37–31. In a game filled with momentum swings, Marysville showed poise, toughness, and team-first basketball down the stretch.
A Strong Comeback in the Final Minutes of the boys basketball game
Trailing by five with only three minutes remaining, the Monarchs mounted a timely and energized comeback. Key plays fueled the rally:
Caden Jude knocked down multiple clutch three-point shots, staying hot from beyond the arc all night.
Drew Hughes added strong finishes inside to keep the offense moving.
Talan Wolford closed the game with important defensive stops and key free throws.
Mitchell Evans, tasked with playing the entire game, made a major impact on both ends and controlled the glass during the final stretch.
Marysville’s defensive pressure and execution in the final minutes flipped the momentum and secured the victory.
A True Team Win
While several players had standout moments, this game was the definition of a team effort. Contributions came from every direction, including:
Brock, Deacon, Carter, Stack, AL, Rivers, and Dylan, each providing energy, defense, rebounding, and depth when the team needed it most.
The complete buy-in from the entire roster helped Marysville close out one of its toughest games of the season.
Looking Ahead
With this win, Marysville has now won two straight and carries strong momentum into its next matchup. The Monarchs return home on Thursday to take on Worthington McCord, looking to continue building on their recent success.
