FINAL: URBANA 28, JONATHAN ALDER 27
Jonathan Alder's unbeaten start ended Friday, but the Pioneers' response to adversity deserves attention.
Trailing 14–0 at halftime and later 21–7, Alder fought back to take a 27–21 lead with 45 seconds remaining. Urbana answered with a touchdown pass with three seconds left and added the winning extra point.
Sophomore quarterback Drew Hughes supplied touchdown runs of 40 and 99 yards. Fellow sophomore Parker Bates caught scoring passes of 43 and 20 yards, helping turn a difficult start into a late lead. Ben Petzinger's interception helped set up Alder's final scoring opportunity.
The loss moved the Pioneers to 6–1. They now prepare to host London on October 9 with a chance to respond immediately.
Trey Bentley remains an important part of Alder's broader player story. The Class of 2028 receiver and athlete was photographed at Clemson's pregame Tiger Walk on October 3. The dated photo provides confirmation of his presence at the program, although it does not establish a new scholarship offer or an official visit.
A verified individual statistical line for Bentley against Urbana was not available in the reviewed game report. His spotlight can still reflect two meaningful developments: a team that kept competing until the closing seconds and a young player continuing to explore college environments.
