How NIL Go Works: What Every Family Needs to Know about Name, Image, and Likeness and Athlete NIL Deals
Updated: 2 days ago
NIL rules update — October 13, 2026
Ohio high school athletes may earn compensation for permitted NIL marketing under OHSAA rules. The November 2025 policy was updated in May 2026 to allow agents for marketing purposes. Agreements must be reported to OHSAA within 14 days. Pay-for-play, recruiting inducements and high school collectives remain prohibited; school names, logos and team marks cannot be used in compensated promotions.
NCAA Division I third-party NIL deals worth $600 or more are reported through NIL Go, including qualifying smaller payments from the same payer. Current Division I athletes generally report new or changed agreements within five business days. Incoming high school prospects report qualifying deals from July 1, 2025 or the start of junior year, whichever is later, within 14 days of full-time Division I enrollment or before their first Division I competition, whichever comes first.
A Smarter Way to Protect Student-Athlete Eligibility

As student-athletes across the country continue to explore opportunities through Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals, one concern remains top of mind: eligibility protection. That’s where NIL Go comes in — a platform designed to simplify compliance while empowering athletes to take control of their NIL opportunities with confidence.
What Is NIL Go and how does it work with NIL Deals?
NIL Go supports disclosure and compliance review of third-party Division I NIL deals. Using the platform does not by itself guarantee eligibility or approve every contract; athletes must follow the applicable rules and review decisions.
Key Features and Benefits
✅ Report Deals for Compliance Review
Student-athletes can easily submit NIL agreements through NIL Go to be evaluated for compliance with relevant regulations. This critical step helps athletes avoid unintentional violations that could jeopardize their eligibility.
✅ Pre-Clear Deals for Peace of Mind
One of NIL Go’s standout features is the ability to pre-clear a deal before it's accepted. This means an athlete can have a deal evaluated in advance to confirm it won’t conflict with eligibility requirements — allowing them to move forward with confidence.
✅ Appoint a Representative
To streamline the process even further, student-athletes can designate one representative during onboarding. This representative can enter NIL deals into the system on behalf of the athlete, making the submission process faster and more efficient.
Why It Matters
NIL Go supports disclosure and compliance review of third-party Division I NIL deals. Using the platform does not by itself guarantee eligibility or approve every contract; athletes must follow the applicable rules and review decisions.
By providing both proactive and reactive deal review options, NIL Go empowers student-athletes to own their NIL journey — without compromising their eligibility.
