The Ashland University Eagles are entering the 2025–26 season with championship expectations, and one of the biggest reasons for excitement is the continued rise of former Marysville Monarch standout Jason Moore. Now a true sophomore, Moore is coming off a strong offseason and an impressive preseason that signals a major leap forward in his collegiate career.
High School Roots & Early Dominance
Jason Moore made his name in Marysville, Ohio, where he became one of the most productive and respected players in program history. As a junior he averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds per game, showcasing his consistent ability to control the paint and impact both ends of the floor. He surpassed the 1,000-point mark during his senior year and led Marysville with a steady blend of toughness, mobility, and scoring touch.
Moore was named the D1-OCC Player of the Year for the Class of 2024, a testament not just to his talent but to his leadership and presence. He was known as a player who embraced challenges, defended at a high level, and elevated his teammates with effort and consistency. His high school coaches often highlighted his willingness to do the dirty work—diving for loose balls, securing big rebounds, and defending the opponent’s top players.

Transition to College & Freshman Growth
Moore’s freshman season at Ashland offered a valuable learning year as he adjusted to the physicality and speed of the college game. Despite playing limited minutes, he made the most of his opportunities—shooting efficiently from the field and showing flashes of the three-level scoring that defined his high school career.
He contributed as a versatile forward who could guard multiple positions, play above the rim, and bring energy off the bench. Coaches pointed to his maturity, work habits, and humility as reasons he is primed for a breakout sophomore year.
Player Profile & Skill Breakdown
Jason Moore stands at roughly 6'7–6'8, giving him the ideal frame for a modern Division II forward. His game blends multiple strengths:
Scoring Versatility: Can finish through contact, face up, hit mid-range shots, and score around the basket.
Physicality: Uses his body well to establish position, rebound, and defend inside.
Defense-First Mentality: Takes pride in contesting shots, rotating properly, and guarding in space.
High Character: Known for humility, discipline, and a relentless work ethic.
Winning Habits: Shows attention to detail, communicates well, and embraces coaching.
