Evan Wortman did not need an extra-base hit every time up to influence a baseball game. His 2024 Bunsold season showed how contact, patience, and consistent plate appearances can keep an offense moving.

In 14 eighth-grade games, Wortman collected nine hits in 26 at-bats for a .346 average. He added two doubles, eight RBI, 14 runs, and 10 stolen bases without a recorded caught stealing.

His .550 on-base percentage is one of the best ways to understand that season. He drew 11 walks while striking out four times, repeatedly giving the lineup another runner. His walk total tied Juan Marquez for the team lead.

The saved GameChanger-style export also credits him with 25 quality at-bats, the highest total listed on the team. His quality-at-bat rate was 62.5 percent. That is the tracking system's measure, but it matches a season in which he often found ways to make an appearance useful.

Wortman's coach remembered him as the No. 3 hitter and an important outfielder who also filled in at shortstop. The evaluation emphasized routine reliability, concentration, and the ability to accept coaching. Those are observations from that 2024 season, not assumptions about current performance.

His statistical line and his coach's account tell a similar story: he brought more than one way to contribute. He could get a hit, take a walk, advance an offensive inning, or help stabilize the defense.

That foundation makes his early baseball years worth revisiting. The numbers were strong, and the habits described around them give the season lasting meaning.
