Brady Golliday Battles Through Heavy Pressure in Indian Lake’s Week 4 Loss in Ohio High School Football

Indian Lake’s Week 4 trip to London turned into a difficult test against a physical Red Raiders defense. London built a three-score halftime lead and defeated the Lakers 29–7 on Friday, September 11.
The final score was disappointing for Indian Lake, but quarterback Brady Golliday continued to compete even while facing pressure throughout the night.
Golliday keeps throwing under pressure
Golliday completed 21 of 32 passes for 254 yards and one touchdown. His biggest play came during the third quarter, when he connected with Braden Tussing for a 78-yard touchdown.
That long scoring play cut London’s lead to 22–7 and briefly gave the Lakers life.
Golliday completed nearly 66 percent of his passes, but London’s pass rush made nearly every possession difficult. The Red Raiders recorded eight sacks, contributing to Golliday finishing with minus-36 rushing yards on 16 recorded attempts.
Those numbers require some context. In high school statistics, sack yardage is normally charged against the quarterback’s rushing total. Indian Lake’s offensive line struggled to keep the pocket clean, but Golliday continued looking downfield and still produced more than 250 passing yards.
His willingness to remain engaged—and deliver the ball accurately while knowing pressure was coming—is an important part of his Week 4 performance.
Tussing provides the biggest offensive spark
Tussing was Golliday’s leading target, catching six passes for 125 yards and a touchdown. His 78-yard score accounted for more than half of his receiving yardage and provided Indian Lake’s only touchdown.
The Golliday-to-Tussing connection remains one of the clearest bright spots for the Lakers. Tussing can stretch the field, while Golliday has the arm strength to reach him vertically.
Indian Lake finished with 236 total yards, but only minus-18 rushing yards. Dawson Stevenson gained 11 yards on his only carry, while Jordan Henderson added seven yards on two attempts. Without a dependable running game, London was able to concentrate on pressuring Golliday.
London controls the game on the ground
London established control early and carried a 22–0 lead into halftime.
The Red Raiders accumulated 308 total yards, including 263 on the ground. Running back Bryston Toronto delivered the biggest performance, rushing 24 times for 198 yards and two touchdowns. His night included a 73-yard run.
London quarterback Colt Hughes completed only one pass, but it went for a 45-yard touchdown to Isaiah Near. Hughes also scored on a one-yard quarterback run.
Near contributed in several ways, catching the touchdown pass and rushing eight times for 48 yards. The contrast defined the game: Indian Lake leaned heavily on Golliday’s arm, while London controlled the line of scrimmage and steadily moved the football on the ground.
A quarterback performance worth evaluating beyond the score
This was not a highlight-filled night for the Lakers, but it was still a revealing game for Golliday. Quarterback evaluation is about more than touchdowns and victories. College coaches also examine how a player handles pressure, responds after sacks, maintains his mechanics and continues competing when his team falls behind.
Golliday demonstrated toughness and continued completing passes despite London’s eight sacks. His Week 4 film should show both his strengths and the areas that remain important to develop—particularly pocket movement, faster decisions against pressure and protecting the football when the pocket collapses.
Indian Lake prepares for Bellefontaine
Indian Lake will return home to face Bellefontaine on Friday, September 18, at 7 p.m. The Lakers are then scheduled to host North Union on September 25.
The immediate goal will be restoring balance to the offense. If Indian Lake can protect Golliday more effectively and establish even a modest rushing threat, opposing defenses will have a much harder time loading up against the passing game.
At 2–2, the Lakers still have plenty of season remaining.
