Recruiting Reality Check: Is the Money Conversation Crowding Out Development?

The adults can build a very impressive spreadsheet and still forget to ask who is helping the player get better.
Our view: when college recruiting discussions center on compensation, the development plan deserves equal attention. Who teaches the role? How is progress measured? What happens if the first season brings limited minutes?
This is not an argument against athletes earning money. It is an argument that money, education, basketball fit, and long-term preparation belong in the same conversation.
We are also skeptical of declaring any athlete overpaid from an unverified headline. Without the agreement, obligations, and actual compensation, outsiders may be debating a number that tells them very little.
Challenge the incentives and the missing questions. Keep the criticism focused on the system.
