Recruiting Reality Check: Being Missed by a List Isn’t the End of a Career

Opinion | Recruiting Reality Check.

A list can end after 25 names. A player’s development does not have to.

Our concern is with treating rankings, invitation lists, or media coverage as complete inventories of talent. Every evaluation has limits: who was seen, when they were seen, and what information was available.

Being omitted does not prove bias, and being included does not guarantee success. Both statements leave room for players to keep working and evaluators to keep learning.

Media outlets should welcome specific corrections and better evidence. Families can help by sharing current full-game footage, accurate graduation years, and dated statistics rather than another argument about a numbered slot.

This is why Wolfe Sports uses No Rankings. Just Hoopers. We want coverage to open a conversation about the game.

If we missed a player, send us information. Recognition should be an invitation to look closer, and the work continues after the post.
