Olentangy Orange Basketball 2026–27: Replacing an OCC Player of the Year
Updated: 15 hours ago
Orange's next team must be understood through both sides of its awards list: senior recognition to replace and Grant Miller's established younger-class production.
OCC Division I • 2026–27 season outlook • Research checked October 21, 2026.
The graduation question is specific
The OCC workbook names Treyton Schroeder the 2025–26 Central Division player of the year and lists him as a senior. Xavier Aguila earned second-team recognition, with Elijah Manley a special mention and Reed Wilson an honorable mention; all three were also listed as seniors.
Those distinctions make the new outlook more substantial than saying Orange simply has a strong returning group. The Pioneers must establish a new distribution of scoring, organizing and supporting responsibilities after recognized older contributors.
Miller is a meaningful point of continuity to monitor
Grant Miller earned first-team All-OCC and Division I All-Ohio honorable mention. The state release lists him as a 6-foot-8 junior averaging 14.0 points. Those are dated credentials, rather than a prediction about his new-season average.
The team question is how the current group uses that established production. An effective possession around a forward requires more than an entry pass: spacing, timing and an available outlet determine whether a promising touch becomes a useful opportunity. The games must establish those relationships.

The previous results show more than one version of Orange
OHSAA's state preview records Orange's 66–47 regular-season win over eventual state runner-up Hilliard Bradley. The Pioneers later lost 50–47 in overtime to Olentangy in a district final. Together, those results show why a team cannot be reduced to one postseason score.
The Bradley win established a high level against a strong opponent. The overtime district loss demonstrated how a different matchup could remain unsettled deep into the game. Neither result guarantees what the new roster will do.
Watch who handles the possessions previously organized by the departing senior group, and whether the next options keep the offense moving when Miller draws attention. Orange's next identity will be built through those shared answers, rather than through a simple attempt to repeat the previous team's personnel balance.
