Basketball talent runs deep in
Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and
Xavier McKinney has become one of the latest players from “The Burg” to make a major impact on the court.
The 6'4" shooting guard from Reynoldsburg High School has developed into one of Central Ohio’s most respected players in the Class of 2026. His consistent production, size at the guard position, and ability to impact the game in multiple ways helped earn him a Division I opportunity with Ohio University, where he signed in November 2025 to join the Bobcats for the 2026–27 season.
Size, Skill, and Versatility
McKinney’s 6'4" frame allows him to play comfortably on the wing while still handling the ball and creating offense. He brings a balanced offensive game that makes him effective from anywhere on the floor.

His game stands out because of his ability to:
Score at the rim through contact
Knock down perimeter shots
Play with pace in transition
Use his length to disrupt plays defensively
Contribute as a rebounder from the guard position
Players with this type of versatility often become key leaders for their teams, and McKinney has embraced that role at Reynoldsburg.
A Major Step to the Next Level
Committing to Ohio University represents an important step in McKinney’s basketball journey. The Bobcats have a strong history in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) and have consistently developed talented guards who make an impact at the college level.
For McKinney, the opportunity to continue his career at Ohio University allows him to stay close to home while competing at the Division I level.
Representing Reynoldsburg
Players like McKinney help continue the proud basketball tradition in Reynoldsburg. His work ethic, steady development, and commitment to improving his game have helped him stand out throughout his high school career.
As he prepares to finish his time at Reynoldsburg and eventually make the transition to college basketball, McKinney represents the next wave of talented players coming out of Central Ohio.
For athletes across the area, his path shows how dedication, growth, and performance can open doors at the next level.
