Number 1 Seed Marysville Bunsold Opens Tournament Play with Dominant Win Over Walnut Springs in the Central Ohio D1 Gold Bracket Basketball Championship

The Marysville Bunsold 8th Grade Boys Basketball Team began their Central Ohio D1 Gold Bracket Championship run with a statement victory, defeating Walnut Springs in commanding fashion, 50-8. The Monarchs—ranked as the Number 1 overall seed—showcased elite defense, sharp ball movement, and team chemistry from start to finish in the first round matchup.

Leading the charge was the dynamic duo of Kellen Carter and AJ Shroyer, each pouring in 15 points to set the tone offensively. Carter was unstoppable around the rim, while Shroyer filled it up from all over the court with his trademark energy and shot-making.

Team captain Myles Forrester chipped in 6 points, controlling the pace and keeping the Monarchs’ offense flowing. His court-side partner and emotional leader, Coach Hudson King, once again had everyone locked in and motivated.

The always-tough Sully Stackhouse continued his steady play with 6 points, attacking the glass and defending with intensity. Javy Lopez, who has been outstanding since moving into the starting lineup, added 4 points and continued to impact both ends of the floor.

Adam Najjar also contributed 4 points, providing spark and hustle off the bench. “ISO” David Lian added 5 points, showcasing his smooth scoring ability, while Mason Potts and Cole “Money” Schott each scored 2 points, rounding out a complete team effort.

With this convincing victory, Marysville advances to the Elite 8, where they’ll face Hilliard Heritage tonight at 5 PM.
