2026–27 Ohio boys basketball outlook • GWOC • Research checked October 21, 2026.

The verified starting point

2025–26: 5–18 overall, 2–12 GWOC.

Conference averages: 48.1 points scored, 61.4 allowed.

Both GWOC wins came against Beavercreek.

The improvement target is measurable

Miamisburg's league record leaves little room to dress up the challenge. The Vikings finished 2–12, with a 13.3-point average deficit in conference games. Both sides of that margin matter: the next team needs productive offense and fewer easy opportunities conceded.

The victories over Beavercreek—73–56 and 50–38—provide useful examples of games Miamisburg did finish. They also show that the Vikings were capable of winning at significantly different scoring levels. A rebuild does not need one exact pace to make progress.

A younger group was present on the previous roster

The archived 2025–26 roster lists Jordin Clack, Gavin Sudimack, Rylan Alford and Connor Norman as juniors. Brayden Dafler and Rylan Cokes were sophomores. That offers a factual starting list of players with remaining class eligibility at the end of last season.

It is not a declaration that all six return or that their assignments stay the same. Current participation and responsibilities must come from the school and actual games. What the roster history does establish is that the previous team included a younger group alongside its seniors.

The near miss is as useful as the win

Fairmont needed overtime to beat Miamisburg 51–42. For a team near the bottom of the table, that result is evidence that it could make a winning league opponent work deep into a game. It also underlines how little a competitive regulation performance guarantees.

Watch whether the Vikings enter late possessions with clear spacing, a reliable ballhandler and time to make a second decision. Defensively, count completed possessions rather than celebrating the first forced miss. Those small improvements become meaningful if they survive against the middle of the GWOC.
