Marysville’s soccer teams are nearing the part of the season when every result can become the last one. The boys have added encouraging late-season outcomes, while the girls have completed their Ohio Capital Conference schedule and turn their attention toward postseason play.

Boys add a win and a road draw

The boys’ posted schedule lists a 4–0 home victory over Grove City on October 8, followed by a 1–1 draw at Marietta on October 10. Earlier in October, Marysville won 2–1 at Pickerington Central before a 3–0 loss at Hilliard Darby.

Those results show a team still finding opportunities to compete late in a demanding schedule. A clean-sheet victory and a road draw provide something to carry into the next match, even after the Darby setback.

Girls finish the OCC portion

The Journal-Tribune’s October 9 report lists the girls’ final Cardinal Division record at 1–3–1, good for fourth place, after a 3–0 loss to Hilliard Darby. A notable earlier league result came against Thomas Worthington: Jade Kover scored in a 1–0 Marysville victory reported September 24.

That goal belongs in the season’s story because it helped turn a close match into a conference win.

A fresh opportunity in postseason play

Our outlook: the boys’ recent defensive result and the girls’ ability to win a one-goal league game offer useful points of reference. Tournament matches often reward the team that handles the next possession well, resets after a mistake and stays composed when chances are limited.

OHSAA lists sectional competition October 19–24, district play October 26–31 and regionals November 3–8. State semifinals follow November 10–11, with finals November 13–16. Match assignments and times should be checked against the official bracket as they become available.

For the Monarchs, the immediate goal is concrete: put together a complete match and earn another one. The postseason gives both programs an opportunity to add a final chapter that is still their own to write.
