Bunsold Class of 2029 Boys Capture First-Ever Middle School Championship
📅 Monday, February 10
The Marysville Bunsold Class of 2029 Boys Basketball team made school history this past Saturday, winning Bunsold Middle School’s first-ever basketball championship with a 40-29 victory over Upper Arlington Jones. The Monarchs showcased the hard work, chemistry, and dedication that have made them one of the top Division I basketball teams in Central Ohio for the Class of 2029.
Led by Coach Lloyd Wolfe and Coach Kevin Truitt, this special group has been built through years of hard work and development — much of it taking place at the BTY Training Center in Marysville, Ohio, where many of these players have trained and grown together since they started basketball.
Kellen Carter led the way with a dominant performance, scoring 25 points and grabbing 8 rebounds, showing why he’s one of the premier young players in the region. Myles Forrester added 10 points and 8 assists, controlling the tempo and showing impressive maturity as a floor general.
The Monarchs’ defensive edge came from AJ Shroyer and Sully Stackhouse, who both scored a bucket while locking down on defense, setting the tone with hustle and communication. David Lian delivered one of the biggest plays of the game — a momentum-shifting three-pointer that helped Marysville pull away in the second half.
Meanwhile, Cole “Money” Schott, Mason Potts, and Adam Idrissi made vital contributions in their minutes, playing tough, smart basketball and doing all the little things that define a winning culture. Even though Hudson King and Javy Lopez were unable to play in the championship, their presence and effort throughout the season were a huge part of this team’s success.
This resilient and unified team battled adversity all year and emerged stronger every step of the way. They finished the season with an impressive 20-2 record and an overall middle school record of 40-5, setting a new standard for future Monarchs to follow.
The future looks incredibly bright for Marysville High School Basketball, as this talented group prepares to make its mark at the next level. Their championship run wasn’t just about winning a game — it was about building a foundation for continued success within a community that believes in hard work, teamwork, and leadership.
🏀 Congratulations to the Class of 2029 Marysville Monarchs — Champions, Leaders, and the Future of Marysville Basketball.
