On Wednesday, December 11, 2024, the Marysville Bunsold 7th and 8th Grade Boys Basketball Teams hosted Westerville Heritage for another exciting night of hoops—and both squads delivered in commanding fashion.
The 7th-grade team continued its outstanding season with a dominant victory, building such a large lead that the game reached a running clock in the second half. Their energy, discipline, and execution on both ends of the court were on full display from the opening tip.
The 8th-grade Monarchs faced a tougher challenge early on, holding just a 1-point lead at halftime, but came out of the locker room with focus and fire—completely taking control in the second half to earn an emphatic 55–28 win.
It was truly a complete team performance, with every player contributing to the scoring and defensive effort.
Kellen Carter led the charge with 19 points and 8 rebounds, once again showing why he’s one of the top players in Central Ohio. Hudson King caught fire from the perimeter, making it rain with 15 points and 5 steals, providing the spark that fueled the second-half surge.
AJ Shroyer played his typical all-around game, adding 2 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds, while Sully Stackhouse filled the stat sheet with 5 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 steals—impacting every possession.
Javy Lopez continued his strong play with 6 points and 3 steals, bringing his signature energy and defensive tenacity. David Lian, Mason Potts, and Adam Najjar Idrissi each chipped in 3 points, along with several key hustle plays that helped seal the win down the stretch.
With both teams firing on all cylinders, the Monarchs look to keep their momentum rolling as they travel to Olentangy Liberty Thursday night for what many are calling a championship preview matchup, starting at 5:30 PM.
