The Marysville Bunsold 8th Grade Boys Basketball Team went toe-to-toe with a tough UA Jones squad last Tuesday night in what turned out to be a thrilling back-and-forth game. Despite missing standout player Kellen Carter due to illness, the Monarchs showed grit, heart, and teamwork, ultimately falling just short in a 42–45 loss.
In Carter’s absence, AJ Shroyer rose to the occasion, delivering a tremendous all-around performance. Shroyer led the team with 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 steals, setting the tone on both ends of the floor and proving himself as a true leader when his team needed him most.
Sully Stackhouse also stepped up with one of his best games of the season, contributing 10 points and 8 rebounds, battling hard in the paint and giving the Monarchs a strong interior presence.
Myles Forrester and Hudson King each added 5 points and 5 assists, controlling the offense and making key plays throughout the night. Their ability to handle pressure and distribute the ball kept Marysville within striking distance until the final buzzer.
Javy Lopez and Mason Potts chipped in 2 points apiece, while Adam Idrissi and Cole “Money” Schott contributed on the boards with a rebound each, rounding out a full-team effort in a close contest.
Meanwhile, the 7th Grade Monarchs continued their winning ways, securing a 42–30 victory to stay on their undefeated streak and keep the program’s momentum strong.
Both teams will be back in action as Marysville hosts Worthingway at home on Tuesday night, starting at 5:30 PM.
