The Marysville Bunsold 8th Grade Baseball Team opened the season in dominant fashion, rolling past Springfield Middle School 16–2. The Monarchs set the tone early and never looked back, with every player reaching base at least once in a true team effort.
On the mound, Isiaha McGinnis earned the win, striking out five. Landon Ice closed the door for the save and stuffed the stat sheet with 2 RBIs, 2 stolen bases, and a strong game behind the plate.
At the dish and on the bases, the Monarchs were relentless:
Juan Marquez scored 2 runs, swiped 4 bases, and drew 3 walks.
Evan Wortman added 2 walks, 2 runs, and 2 steals.
Luke “Gibby” Gibson chipped in a hit and an RBI.
Collin Richardson kicked things off with a 2-run single in the first.
Owen Sparks led the way with 2 hits.
Brennan Hoffer reached twice, scored 2 runs, and stole 3 bases.
Evan Holshu, Everett Lomax, Daniel Delbosque, Hunter Niel, Clayton Hoover, and Hayes Lautier each contributed a walk, a run, and a stolen base.
Marysville earned the win without captain and shortstop Drew Carper, whom they hope to have back soon. The 8th grade squad will resume play after spring break, while the 7th grade takes on Springfield at home this Thursday at 5:30.
Come out and support your Monarchs — the future looks bright!
