Marysville Bunsold vs. Olentangy Hyatts (1/9/25): Monarchs Battle Back from Break with a Hard-Fought Road Win

The Marysville Bunsold 8th Grade Boys Basketball Team returned from winter break in winning fashion, earning a gritty 35–24 road victory over Olentangy Hyatts on Tuesday night. It was a defensive slugfest from start to finish, but the Monarchs showed poise, teamwork, and toughness to secure their tenth win of the season.
Kellen Carter once again led the way for Marysville, dropping 19 points and pulling down 5 rebounds to power the offense. Carter set the tone early, attacking the rim and finishing strong through contact to keep the Monarchs ahead.
Myles Forrester added 9 points and 3 assists, providing leadership and clutch baskets down the stretch. Meanwhile, Hudson King played one of his best all-around games of the season—he may not have scored, but his impact was felt everywhere. King delivered a lockdown defensive performance against Hyatts’ talented point guard, tallying 5 assists and 5 steals, and completely disrupting the opponent’s rhythm.
AJ Shroyer continued to dominate the boards, recording 10 rebounds (including 7 offensive) to go along with 4 points and 5 assists, showcasing his relentless motor and playmaking ability. Sully Stackhouse chipped in 1 point and 3 rebounds, bringing his usual energy and defensive intensity.
Javy Lopez contributed 2 steals and 2 rebounds, while David Lian added 2 points and 2 steals off the bench. Mason Potts and Cole “Money” Schott both grabbed 3 rebounds, rounding out another strong team effort.
With the win, the 8th Grade Monarchs improve to 10–1, while the 7th Grade Monarchs remain unbeaten at 11–0, continuing an impressive stretch for the entire Marysville program.
Both teams will now travel to Hilliard Heritage tonight, with the 7th-grade game tipping off at 5:30 PM.
