The Marysville Bunsold 8th Grade Baseball Team looked tough Monday night, rolling past Bexley with an impressive 13–1 victory. The Monarchs dominated on both sides of the ball, showcasing their depth, energy, and team-first attitude.
Evan Wortman earned the win on the mound, setting the tone early, while Owen Sparks and Evan Holshu came in strong to close out the game. Offensively, Wortman and Juan Marquez each crushed doubles that would have cleared most fences, driving in two runs apiece.
Drew Carper provided a spark at the top of the lineup with two runs scored and three stolen bases, while Luke “Gibby” Gibson led the charge with two hits and three RBIs. Ev Lomax continued his hot streak, adding a hit and a walk, and Landon Ice chipped in two RBIs and two stolen bases.
Collin Richardson reached base every time, showing impressive base-running instincts — highlighted by a delayed steal of second and a perfectly timed steal of home. Brennan Hoffer executed a perfect bunt for a hit, adding a stolen base and a run to cap off a complete team performance.
The Monarchs now look ahead to a busy stretch, with 10 games remaining on their schedule. They travel to Dublin Karrer tonight before returning home on Saturday for a doubleheader against Delaware at 10:00 and 12:00.
Come out and support your Monarchs — this team is fun to watch and playing great baseball!
