The Marysville Bunsold 8th Grade Boys Basketball Team (Class of 2029) capped off a challenging week with a statement victory, defeating Worthington McCord 55–39 on the road. After dropping two hard-fought games earlier in the week—47–55 to Jonathan Alder and 39–49 to UA Jones—the Monarchs regrouped, refocused, and responded in a big way.
Despite dealing with injuries, including AJ Gratz still working his way back to full strength, the Monarchs showed depth, leadership, and resilience to get back in the win column.
Dayton Storr has been on an absolute tear, putting together one of the most impressive three-game stretches of the season with 21, 16, and 25 points, leading the Monarchs offensively and setting the tone with his energy and consistency.
Kale Strickland continued to shine as the team’s all-around engine, averaging 10 points per game over the stretch while facilitating and rebounding at a high level. Henry Brown and Noah Koski each averaged 5 points per game, providing steady scoring and defensive effort to help balance the attack.
Kaden Shook has been a spark plug for the Monarchs, delivering valuable minutes and key plays off the bench, while Turner Smith, Landon Will, and Landon Ice have all stepped up to contribute across the board. Nathan Koski continues to find ways to score—always “grabbing buckets” when the team needs them most—while Drew Carper and Brody Fowler have made their mark with relentless hustle and high-effort plays that help set the tone for the entire roster.
With this big win, the Monarchs improve their record and head into the final stretch of the season with momentum and confidence.
The final four-game stretch begins Tuesday at home against Worthington Perry, and the boys are locked in and ready to finish strong.
