Marysville Bunsold Boys Edge Out Two Thrillers Heading Into Winter Break

The Marysville Bunsold 8th Grade Boys Basketball Team (Class of 2028) keeps proving they know how to win close games. After grinding out a 33–30 victory over New Albany to kick off winter break, the Monarchs followed it up with another nail-biter, a 29–28 win over UA Hastings, with both games decided in the final seconds.

In the thrilling win against UA Hastings, Dayton Storr once again led the charge with 12 points and 8 rebounds, continuing to showcase his ability to score under pressure. Kale Strickland played a complete game with 10 points, 8 rebounds, and delivered the game-winning assist to Noah Koski, who calmly finished the play to seal the victory.

Koski also added 3 assists and 3 steals, providing steady playmaking and defensive pressure throughout the night. Henry Brown chipped in 5 points and 5 rebounds, doing the little things that kept the Monarchs in control.

Turner Smith, Landon Will, Landon Ice, Kaden Shook, Nathan Koski, and Drew Carper all logged productive minutes, bringing energy and key contributions on both ends. It was also a welcome sight to see Brody Fowler return from the injured reserve list, bringing depth and hustle back to the rotation.

Meanwhile, AJ Gratz, who tallied 15 points and 10 rebounds in the win over New Albany, remains sidelined as he continues his recovery—but his presence and leadership continue to impact the team.

Now sitting at an impressive 11–2, the Monarchs are preparing for a marquee matchup as they host 12–1 Jonathan Alder this Saturday, with tip-offs scheduled for 9:00 AM and 10:15 AM.
