Lakota East 2026–27 Basketball: Bowman, Experience and the Next Possession

The verified starting point
2025–26: 14–10 overall, 9–7 GMC.
Brady Bowman: 13.1 points and 3.7 assists in 23 recorded games.
The school identifies Clint Adkins as varsity coach and described Bowman as a sophomore in 2025–26.
The young-team label needs an update
Lakota East's official 2025–26 outlook described a team with only three seniors. That is a useful starting point for the next winter, because the program was already giving responsibility to players below the senior class.
It is not permission to carry the entire old roster into a new season. Enrollment, participation and roles still need to be checked. It does mean the preseason discussion can begin with documented varsity work rather than assuming every new responsibility belongs to an inexperienced player.
Bowman's decisions are central to the story
Bowman's scoring and assist totals show why he is a meaningful name to follow. His official GMC player page records 23 games, making the scope of those averages clear. The school's prior outlook also identified J.J. Smith and Brody Hayes as players who had gained varsity minutes.
An experienced guard can help organize the floor, but the group around him has to make the next decision. Watch whether an initial advantage produces a second touch in a useful area, or whether the defense gets time to reset.

The postseason supplied a specific lesson
Lakota East's school report says the Thunderhawks reached a district final before losing 42–28 to Oak Hills. The same report notes that East led by one entering the final quarter. That is a concrete example of why one decisive stretch can become the difference between continuing and going home.
The lesson for this season is a question to investigate, not a diagnosis from a score: how does East generate a dependable attempt when the game becomes difficult? Look for ball security, movement away from the ball and a clear outlet when the first option closes.
Adkins' official school page provides continuity at the coaching position. The challenge is turning the experience in the previous young group into a more complete performance. The GMC will supply plenty of different defensive problems; East's answers are worth following possession by possession.
