Senior Film Still Matters: James Conrad and Damion King Earn Ohio State Opportunities
October 19, 2026 | Football | Recruiting Spotlight
The summer recruiting calendar can make a senior feel as though every important decision has already been made. Two Ohio defenders have provided a timely reminder that opportunities can still develop during the season.
St. Ignatius linebacker James Conrad and Westerville North edge defender Damion King both received Ohio State offers in October. Their recruiting outcomes should be described separately: Conrad subsequently committed to the Buckeyes, while the reporting on King’s offer identified him as an Appalachian State commit.
James Conrad takes his next step
Conrad visited Ohio State for the October 10 Maryland game and received an offer that weekend. On October 15, the class of 2027 linebacker flipped his commitment from Buffalo to Ohio State, according to Eleven Warriors.
That is a meaningful update to Wolfe Sports’ earlier coverage of his offer. The opportunity progressed from an offer to a commitment within the same month. It does not establish a promised college role, but it does show why recruiting coverage needs to follow a player’s decisions beyond the initial headline.
Damion King’s production draws attention
King received his Ohio State offer on October 13, according to Rivals. An October 15 Land-Grant Holy Land report credited the Westerville North defender with 60 tackles, 20 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks through eight games.
Those are eight-game figures reported on October 15, rather than an updated total through every game played by October 19. The distinction matters as new results arrive. His offer also should not be presented as a commitment change.
A useful lesson for seniors
The practical takeaway is to keep communicating meaningful progress. Send recent film with the game date, opponent, jersey number and position clearly identified. Include representative snaps as well as the biggest plays, and distinguish official statistics from estimates.
Neither story guarantees that another player will receive the same opportunity. Both show that a senior’s recruitment can remain active after summer. Continued preparation and accurate updates give college staffs useful information when their needs or evaluations change.
