High School Football Week 1 Central Ohio Football Recap: Olentangy Orange Claims Season-Opening Win Over Marysville

August 22, 2025 — Marysville, OHHigh school football returned across Central Ohio on Friday night as the Olentangy Orange Pioneers traveled to Marysville to open the 2025 season. In a matchup featuring talent on both sidelines—including several projected Division I and Division II college prospects—Olentangy Orange earned a 42–0 victory to start the year 1–0.


Game Overview

Olentangy Orange executed a balanced performance on both sides of the ball, capitalizing on early opportunities and maintaining momentum throughout the night. The Pioneers showcased their depth and physicality, with contributions across the roster helping secure the shutout.

Marysville, despite the final score, continued to show competitiveness and effort throughout the game. The Monarchs’ defense put together several strong individual efforts, flying to the football and forcing tough yardage in key spots.

The Pioneers return home next Friday, August 29, to host Westerville North, who is coming off a 24–0 win over Westerville Central. Both teams enter undefeated, setting up a compelling early-season test.

Marysville (0–1)

The Monarchs now shift their focus to KIPP Columbus, who sits at 0–1 after a Week 1 loss to Wheelersburg. Marysville looks to bounce back quickly and capitalize on the positive flashes shown by its defense and young playmakers.
