The race for 2026 Ohio Mr. Basketball is loaded with elite talent from across the state. These finalists represent the best of Ohio high school basketball — production, leadership, winning, and impact.

⭐ 2026 Mr. Basketball Finalists
Finalists are listed in alphabetical order. Voting is conducted by the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association (OPSMA), with the winner announced following the conclusion of voting.
🔥 Trey Drexler | Brunswick | 6'0" | Senior
Drexler delivered one of the most efficient scoring seasons in Ohio. Averaging 26.5 PPG, he shot nearly 50% from the field and 45% from three, while leading Brunswick to a historic season.
A two-time finalist and league Player of the Year, Drexler finished his career with 1,754 points, ranking among the top scorers in Medina County history.
🔥 Cameron Elwer | Delphos St. John’s | 6'2" | Senior
One of the most decorated players in Ohio history, Elwer averaged 29.4 PPG while leading an undefeated 25-0 team.
64% FG / 59% 3PT / 93% FT
Over 2,600 career points (Top 10 all-time in Ohio)
Passed LeBron James on the all-time scoring list
A Furman commit, Elwer is also a 4.1 GPA salutatorian, combining elite academics with historic production.
🔥 Marcus Johnson | Garfield Heights | 6'2" | Senior
The defending Mr. Basketball winner, Johnson elevated his game even further this season:
30.1 PPG | 7.1 RPG | 5.6 APG | 2.7 SPG
Despite heavy defensive attention, Johnson consistently delivered and led his team through one of the toughest schedules in Ohio.
A four-time All-Ohio selection, he is headed to South Carolina and remains one of the most complete guards in the country.
🔥 Gator Nichols | Maysville | 6'0" | Senior
Nichols continues to dominate at the small-school level:
24.2 PPG | 3.6 APG | 3.4 RPG
Over 1,800 career points
Defending state champion
A two-time district Player of the Year and one of the most consistent scorers in Ohio, Nichols has built a legacy at Maysville.

Sagester has been a winner at every level:

He ranks among the most accomplished players in program history and continues to climb the all-time OHSAA record lists.

Singleton is one of the most versatile players in the state:

A four-year starter with over 1,300 career points, Singleton is headed to Harvard after drawing major Division I interest.
🔥 Josh Tyson | Lakota West | 6'3" | Junior
The lone underclassman finalist, Tyson proved he belongs among the elite:

Led team to 21-1 record
