Centerville 2026–27 Basketball: The Standards Behind a GWOC Title
Updated: 15 hours ago
2026–27 Ohio boys basketball outlook • GWOC • Research checked October 21, 2026.
The verified starting point
2025–26: 18–7 overall, 13–1 GWOC.
League games: 61.4 points scored and 49.6 allowed per game.
Trey Sam, Sam Keely and Ty Rohrer received 2026 All-Ohio recognition as juniors.
The record sets the challenge
Centerville enters the new season with the clearest league benchmark: one conference loss in 14 games. That achievement matters because the GWOC schedule repeatedly tests the same weaknesses. Opponents see a team again, make adjustments and force it to find another answer.
The Elks' 11.8-point average scoring advantage in league games establishes the scale of last season's work. It does not make the next title automatic. Wayne finished only two conference wins behind, while Fairmont and Northmont also reached double-figure or near-double-figure league win totals.
Three names give the outlook substance
The 2026 OHSAA All-Ohio release lists Trey Sam as a special-mention selection and Keely and Rohrer as honorable mentions. All three were juniors. That is meaningful roster history for a preseason discussion, although the final school roster remains the authority on current participation.
Their contributions were visible in specific games. In Centerville's 72–64 victory over Fairmont, the official box score credited Sam with 27 points and Keely with 15. Against Springfield in a 65–59 win, Sam scored 22, Rohrer 13 and Keely 10. Those examples show multiple scoring sources rather than one isolated award.
Go beyond one conference

The next step is consistency against the top end
Wayne beat Centerville 71–51 in one league meeting; the Elks won the other 81–54. Those dramatically different results are a useful warning against judging the race from a single night.
Watch how Centerville creates useful possessions when its first action is covered, and whether the defense finishes with a rebound. Another strong season will require repeatable answers to those questions across both meetings with its closest rivals.
